Since its release in 1988, the M1 music workstation quickly became a best-seller in the music industry, solidifying its place as a cornerstone of the late 1980s music scene and beyond. Now, with the iM1 for iPad, you can have those iconic sounds at your fingertips.

A faithful reproduction of the original M1 Sound

The PCM data in iM1 provides a comprehensive library of the original M1. In addition to that, our engineers meticulously analyzed the circuit diagram of the original design and faithfully replicated it in software, down to the minutest parameters. The result is an authentic sound that cannot be achieved through simple sampling of the original sounds.

A continued evolution of the M1

iM1 is not content with merely reproducing the original; it offers further evolutionary developments. For instance, synth parts now feature the Filter Resonance that was requested by users of the original M1. The effect parts, originally limited to two effects, have been expanded to 18 effects. Additionally, user interface enhancements such as the inclusion of a KAOSS pad add a fresh touch. The iM1 app truly represents the ultimate version of the iconic KORG M1.

A vast library with 3,300 sounds and 34 cards*

Expanding upon the 19 ROM cards that were originally released for the M1, iM1 also incorporates the sounds of the M1EX, which expanded the internal PCM of the M1, as well as the sounds of the T-series, an evolution of the M1. The app also offers "BEST OF M1," a selection of 100 outstanding M1 programs. Discovering the desired sound is made effortless with the new "Smart Sound Browser." KAOSS pad lets anybody perform

With a KAOSS pad derived from the popular KAOSSILATOR, iM1 allows for intuitive performance simply by touching the screen. Whether playing phrases or adjusting the sound using dual KAOSS pads, even those unfamiliar with keyboard instruments or synthesizers can relish in the experience of performing with iM1. The app includes a conventional keyboard as well as the "Smart Keyboard" feature, enabling users to specify a scale setting and play phrases with just one finger.

Use with KORG Gadget for song production

iM1 can be used in conjunction with Gadget, a music production DAW app that won the App Store Best App of 2014 award in Japan. When both apps are installed, iM1 serves as a sound module within Gadget, providing access to its vast array of program sounds for music production. Furthermore, iM1 supports Audiobus and Inter-App Audio, expanding its compatibility to include apps like GarageBand.

Connect a MIDI keyboard and use as a sound module

Beyond standalone usage, iM1 can also function as an external sound module when connected to a USB MIDI keyboard* via a Lightning adapter. This feature empowers users with the ability to incorporate a powerful workstation sound module into their compact, iPad-based mobile systems. *Compatible keyboards include microKEY, nanoKEY, and others.

Interchangeable with the KORG Legacy Collection and the original M1

Sounds created in iM1 can be effortlessly exported from your iPad to a Mac/PC through iTunes. If you own the Legacy Collection M1, you can seamlessly utilize those sounds in your preferred DAW.
